2010 Easter Egg Hunt

This Saturday, April 3rd at 10:30, Concord and Penacook Residents are invited to attend the annual Easter Egg Hunt at one of 5 locations: Keach Park, Rolfe Park, Merrill Park, Rollins Park, and White Park. This event is for children in grades 4 and under. Rain or Shine.

There is also a Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt for children in grades 5-8, held at dusk (7pm) on Friday, April 2nd at White Park. Rain or Shine.

Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt details: Hunt through the park in search of the eggs. Find the golden eggs and win a prize. Make sure to bring a flashlight and something to collect the eggs in.

Weekly Feature: New Hampshire Fishercats

If you haven't been to a Fishercats game yet, you have to try it! It is a very family-friendly environment and there are a lot of families with children who attend. We went at least 7 times last year and had a blast!

I was hesitant that my four-year-old would be bored to tears watching a baseball game, but I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of things they had going on to keep her interested; like the hilarious sumo wrestlers, the kid's race with Fungo the mascot, sandwhich builder, and other fun games, and give-aways. If you choose to go to a home game, try to get tickets for the free Atlas Fireworks show. It's usually quite impressive! Who wouldn't want to see fireworks on a day other than the fourth of July?!

Most fireworks shows are on Thursday, Friday and Saturday game nights. The downfall is that you're family can be up quite late if you choose to stay for the fireworks show.

The Root Children: a new orginal ballet

When: March 27th, 2010. Showings at 2 p.m. & 7 p.m.

The Root Children is based upon the beloved German story written in 1906 about the seasons and how they change bringing birth and rebirth to nature.

Choreography for the ballet is by Patricia Walker and Kelly Doremus Stuart and will
reflect many areas of dance.

The ballet is an enchanting adaptation of the favorite children’s
story that will transport audiences into a fantasy world reflecting the forest home of birds,
butterflies, dragonflies and all the other creatures who dwell there.

Members the ballet theater are joined by younger students of Petit Papillon School
of Ballet to tell the story of the incredible natural world we live in.

Cast members for this production represent the communities of Concord, Bow, Hopkinton, Henniker, Pembroke, and Sanbornton.

The ballet will appeal to young and old alike.

Family Concert at Concord Public Library

Weekly Feature: You're Fired, create you're own pottery and mosaic studio

Wow! I love this place! Juliette and I went three weeks ago and had a blast!

This place offered a really nice, relaxing environment, with mellow music playing in the background; a perfect place to foster your creativity! The seating was cafe-style, it was very spacious and comfortable. Everything was very clean and organized. It was very easy for us to find the colors and materials we wanted to use. I liked how they displayed finished pieces around the room to show how certain paints and techniques look after being fired.

It was really fun to be able to personalize your own dishes and Juliette loved being able to create a masterpiece all on her own! The hard thing for Juliette and for other children might be the waiting time it takes for your pottery to dry and to cook. The wait time is usually one week, it was a nice surprise to see them after they had been fired and see how the colors changed during the process.

I also like how the dishes are all microwave and dishwasher safe, plus paints are lead-free, so no need to worry about contaminants leaching into your food.

Overall, this activity was really fun, we'll definitely do it again, but it isn't something I'd do on a regular basis because it the ceramic pieces are a little expensive.

15th Annual New Hampshire Maple Sugar Weekend!

The annual New Hampshire Maple Sugar Weekend is just around the corner! It's the time when over 50 sugar houses across the state of New Hampshire open their doors to the public. Enjoy free samples of maple syrup, candy, sugar, and other products and tour the facilities to see how maple syrup is really made.
